I recently purchased a HP dm1z laptop/netbook/notbook/ultraportable (dm1z-3000, AMD E-350, Product #XL303AV). I'll tell you why I bought it, my experience with it and what I'm doing to configure it for best performance.

dm1z Altec Lansing speakers rock
The HP Pavilion dm1z comes with Dolby advanced audio and built-in Altec Lansing speakers. They sound pretty great. Bass is good and voices sound great. They sound better than what you'd expect from a system of this size and price.
I agree they're pretty darn good for a laptop this small, but the placement is kind of strange. The sound is muffled b/c the speakers basically point down into whatever surface the computer's on. You can really notice the difference if you listen while sitting at normal desk height and then tilt the computer back so the speakers are aimed directly at you (the quality is noticeably better).
